Cisco Introduces Free Version Of ConfD Software


Cisco has released a free version of its CONFD management software, CONFD base in an attempt to help the development of physical and virtual devices programmable network. Cisco acquired CONFD, with the network system, a product of orchestrating network control last year as part of its acquisition of the Swedish developer of Tail-f software.

According to Cisco, which describes the future of CONFD demonstrates the commitment of the company to the advancement of open standards in the best interests of the free basic networking software industry CONFD will be available for production use, without charge additional for NETCONF, the protocol is based on YANG governs how network devices can be managed and configured.

The premium version of CONFD with a complete set of interfaces to the north-bound - including the interface to the command line, transfer state representative and Simple Network Management Protocol will continue to be commercially available, Cisco says.

CONFD significantly reduces the time and resources necessary to develop interfaces for network management, said Fredrik Lundberg, cloud and virtualization group director of Cisco's strategy, in a statement.
